Last week our CEO, Emma, popped over to Retail Week for a live Twitter chat session, and just like that, SilkFred was trending! In case you missed it, we’ve pulled together a few of our favourite questions and answers.
@popmick: What does success look like for @SilkFred?
@Emma_SilkFred: Selling lots of dresses!… On a deeper level, empowering people to do something they care about.
@jessmmedia: Are you ever too young to set up [a business] on your own?
@Emma_SilkFred: Yes and no! I was 24 when I set up SF and I made sure to surround myself with people smarter than me… I also think it’s important to go work for other people, learn what you like and what you would do differently.
@vicgall: What are the hardest hurdles you’ve had to overcome in your career and how did you do it?
@Emma_SilkFred: For me, it’s been when I’ve been scared to do something, cared about what people thought and being afraid to fail. I could write a book about these! Biggest hurdles are always the ones you put there yourself.
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt in this tweet chat it’s that SilkFred came from a place of passion, perseverance and appreciation for those working hard to build their independent fashion brand. If you’d like to see more tweets like these simply check out #AskSilkFred on Twitter.
Thanks to Retail Week for having us and to those that tuned in to tweet! Want to know more about the story behind SilkFred? Head over to Retail Week to read SilkFred’s Emma Watkinson’s views on the evolving digital fashion marketplace.
And just in case anyone asks, she’s wearing the Juliana Print dress!
