Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have just woken up from a month-long nap, you’ll know that midi skirts are absolutely everywhere. What do your boss, best friend and the cool girl from the coffee shop all have in common? Midi skirts! Move over jeans. Right now, it’s all about flowy fabrics and cool prints. Midi skirts are universally flattering – no exceptions. They also look good on all ages and can be worn everywhere, from fancy dates to a chill day shopping. Want to know how to style midi skirts? I’ve picked out my three favourites, and I’m going to tell you how to do just that.

1. With a DIY crop top

Leopard print is just as on-trend as midi skirts. Together, they are a match made in heaven. This slip style midi skirt is unfussy in design, but the print keeps it cool and eye-catching. This is the perfect pick when you want to look like you’ve made effort but you don’t want to look like you’ve tried too hard. Styling this skirt is as easy as one, two, three. Literally. Firstly, add a t-shirt (white or black looks best) then tie it in a knot at the front for a DIY crop top. Secondly, add ankle boots – flats or heels, both work equally as well. Lastly, a faux leather headband will tie in with your boots and add an edge to your look. If you’ve ever wondered how you can embrace your inner Kate Moss, this is how.

2. Just add a chunky knit and boots

Wrap skirts are a girl’s best friend – flattering and comfy. From personal experience, they are the best thing you can wear to anything where a big plate of food is involved. All you can eat Chinese buffet, anyone? For a cosy and comfy look that will keep you snug as can be during the colder months, pair this skirt with a big knit. The chunkier the knit, the better. Roll necks are also a great choice (a-la Love Actually.  Add heavy lace-up boots on wet days and trainers when the sun is shining. You can add heeled boots if you want, but for ultimate comfort, stick to flats. The finishing touch is a cross body bag with chain straps (for snacks, of course).

3. Pair with a jazzy shoe for a dressed-up look

A satin midi skirt in a neutral black or navy is a great staple piece for your wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down, taking an outfit from day to night with ease. This navy version is the perfect example. Pictured with a tuck-friendly cream knit and a gold wedge, it works for most AM appointments. Just whip off the knit and pair with a lighter roll neck or silky cami for after hours.

Sometimes, trends can look too difficult or pricey to try, but if there’s one trend you can embrace without much risk, it’s midi skirts. And this is one trend that doesn’t show any signs of fading out any time soon.
