I may have zero plans to attend the Oscars this year, but that doesn’t mean I don’t deserve a golden statue for my portrayal of ‘Someone With an Actual Invite’. I will (and have) worn a prom dress to the pub, so if anyone’s qualified to give advice on how to do red-carpet level fancy, it me. I’ve saved you the hours and scrolled through every dress on SilkFred to bring you the most Oscar-worthy options.
*Serious presenter voice* And the nominees are…
The Bardot Slit Maxi Dress from Missfiga. Fun, feminine and high-glamour, you can always count on this brand for a ‘wow’ moment. Case in point, this sultry black number.
Uhmm, Audrey Hepburn called… she wants her class back.
Be the red carpet
Another brand worth your eyeball’s attention is Club L London. With dresses that strike the right balance between elegant and sexy, consider them your go-to when the dress code = extra. With a price range between £35 – £150, you can get that Oscar look without having to sell everything you own. This red Bardot maxi is our top pick in the drama category. A definite head-turner, it’s popular with summer weddings too, especially the ones your ex is gonna be at.
Sequin, but make it spring
Last, but by no means least, is this embellished maxi dress from Nazz Collection. They are the brand for all things shiny, and this dress is proof you can, and should, do sequins in spring. Sticking with this season’s neutral palette of cream, white and camel, it feels very ‘right now’ and the long sleeves mean you won’t freeze when you’re doing it for the gram. The detailing really makes it, with the crystal outlining your body in all the right places.
There you have it, my favourite Oscar-worthy dresses. No one said you had to be rich, or on a red carpet, to look Hollywood.
Over and out-fits,
