The curtain has been drawn on Hot Girl Summer, which can only mean that Cold Girl Autumn has arrived and – don’t @ us – but we’re here for it. Crisp sunny mornings, red wine, DOGS. IN. JUMPERS… c’monnnn! But cosy comforts and whippets-in-turtlenecks aside, autumn gives us full license to overhaul our entire wardrobe and finally justify new clothes. We’ve been scrolling through the newly autumn-ated What’s New section, and despite wanting to chuck every single thing into our cart, we stuck to the five things we think you’ll get the most wear out of over the next six months.
So get comfy…
1. Power puffer girl
Head-to-toe beige has been everywhere this summer, and if the AW19 runways are anything to go by, it’s only going to continue into the colder months. We have our eye on this cute cropped puffer for Sunday park walks (AKA the scenic route to the pub).
2. Your summer dress replacement
There always seems to be one dress that defines your summer, the one you wear day in, day out. These wax coated black trousers are going to be that for autumn. And winter. And probably some of spring, too.
3. The ideal autumn dress
The criteria for a good autumn dress? Must have sleeves. Must look good with boots. Must fall somewhere below the knee. Florals not mandatory but preferred. Yep, sounds like the Chloe maxi dress…
4. The big knit
While we’re tempted by some of the graphic prints we’ve seen going around, you can’t beat a chunky cream cable knit for sheer cost-per-wear value. Plus, it’ll work for everything from jeans, to midi skirts and leather trousers. This one is currently sitting pretty in our carts til payday.
5. Your layering BFF
A nice slim-fit roll neck is a non-negotiable when it comes to layering. We love this one because it’s fitted but not overly clingy. And it’s only £12 (so obviously we’re getting it in all 3 colours).
