Outfits For Future Autumn Events

Autumn is now in full swing, and what better way to celebrate the season ahead than plotting outfits for those pending pub nights, Sunday roasts and Christmas shopping sprees?

Unpredictable weather means that versatile layers are key here – think light jumpers, throw-on blazers, bikers, turtlenecks and longline coats.

As far as shoes go, it’s the perfect time to start dusting off your knee-highs and ankle boots. Need to step up your autumn footwear? Don’t worry, I’ve spotlighted a few of my faves here.

So, whether you need some serious autumnal outfit inspo or just a few staple pieces, take a peek at the cosy looks below.

Perfect For: Bonfire Night

What are your Bonfire Night plans this year? If, like me, you’re hoping to watch a fireworks display, then your best bet is to wrap up warm. Start with comfy denim (any wash or fit will do, but I’m a big fan of these blue skinnies), then throw on a snuggly knit – like this long-sleeved striped jumper. Complete the look with a teddy coat, ankle boots and a hot chocolate. If you’re really feeling the chill, you could even pop on a thin vest or thermal top underneath.

Perfect For: Sunday Roasts

Yep, autumn is unofficially Sunday roast season, and I’m already salivating at the thought of afternoons spent scoffing crispy potatoes, Yorkshire puds and, of course, lashings of gravy. For this look, comfort is as important as style, and you’ll want something bloat-friendly, too. This longline jumper is great at hiding food babies, and that mustard colour looks lovely layered over dark wash jeans – it makes for a gorgeous contrast. Accessories-wise, I’d just go for glossy boots and a matching bag.

Perfect For: Pumpkin Picking

The most wholesome (but also physically challenging) autumn activity, pumpkin picking calls for an outfit that doesn’t skimp on comfort. I’ve picked out high-waisted jeans, a bodysuit and a layer-friendly shacket, alongside a classic pair of chunky black boots. I like that the bodysuit (unlike a tee or top) is guaranteed to stay in place all day, so you don’t have to keep faffing around with it.

Perfect For: Pub Trips

Nothing quite gets me in the mood for colder weather like a cosy pub trip – especially if a roaring fire is involved. If you’re in the same boat, you’ll need an outfit that’s the ideal mix of dressy and casual. Layering a biker jacket over a maxi dress is a fuss-free way to nail easy autumn glam, and I adore the playful print on this shirt-style option. A slouchy bag and black boots are the ideal accompaniment to this outfit – as is your red wine of choice, naturally.

Perfect For: Brunches

Nope, brunches aren’t just for summer. Swap your chilled mimosas for a maple spice latte, and sub out your mini dresses for this cute jumper-and-skirt combo. Tights are optional, but I’d defo opt for knee-high boots and a biker to complete this look. The glittery embellishments on the skirt mean you can also wear it for evening or swankier events.

Perfect For: Weekend Walks

Strolling through freshly fallen leaves (while nabbing a few conkers en route) is one of my favourite autumn pastimes. As with some of the other looks, jeans and a wear-anywhere turtleneck top forms the basis of this outfit. For extra warmth and coverage, I’ll also chuck on a knitted hat and cosy puffer coat. This oyster-coloured jacket comes with a hood and two big pockets, so it’s as versatile as it is stylish.

Perfect For: Wedding Guests

D’ya have a wedding coming up soon? It’s not quite cold enough yet for full-length or long-sleeved gowns, so you might want to check out this stunning mini dress. The dark navy base makes it autumn-appropriate (especially if you layer a blazer on top), and it has an adjustable tie-belt that can accommodate post-bubbly bloating. Style with rose gold accessories to complement the print.

Perfect For: Christmas Shopping

Soft and comfy separates are your fashion saviours when it comes to pre-Christmas shopping sprees. (P.S. Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s already started buying pressies, right?) Simply tuck a ribbed jumper into a pair of faux leather jeans (personally, I prefer a high-waisted fit for a more streamlined look), then add lace-up boots and a winter coat. I love this longline option by Joe Browns – it comes in a pretty checked print and has proper pockets, too!
