Has anyone else felt a little bit chilly this week?
Those first signs of autumn have started to creep in. There are spiced lattes in every coffee shop, half-crushed conkers litter the ground, and I’ve started swapping out my trusty trainers for a failsafe pair of ankle boots.
I’m now in desperate need of a wardrobe refresh, and, as my diary fills up with pending pub trips and bar nights, it’s time to replace my strappy tops with long-sleeved options that will see me through this season and beyond.
I’ve rounded up some of my favourites below, from glam leopard-print options to floaty blouses and flattering wrap styles.
A Bloat-Friendly Blouse
Yep, Sunday roasts are back – so pour yourself a glass of red wine and get your hands on a bloat-friendly top that can accommodate as many Yorkshire puds as you can eat in one sitting. (My personal record is twelve.) I really love this oversized style in a sparkly dotty print – it looks lush layered over jeans or faux leather leggings. I’d also chuck on a vest top underneath for extra coverage, completing the outfit with ankle boots and a biker.
Your Desk-To-Drinks Essential
This playful printed top is an easy way to add some colour to your everyday or dressier outfits this autumn. Smart enough for the office, this one is also a great choice for after-work drinks – just style it with structured or high-waisted trousers and a simple black blazer. For more casual plans, I’d tuck it into comfy denim and throw on some trainers or chunky boots.
The Pussybow Showstopper
If you’re looking for something a little bit different, allow me to introduce you to this bestselling floral blouse by Anne Louise Boutique. The pussybow detail makes it really stand out from the crowd, and that stunning orchard print is bound to attract some serious compliments. Pair with dark wash denim for a put-together look, or wear it to work with a pencil skirt and heels.
A Pop(py) Of Colour
A vibrant autumnal print and a flattering wrap fit make the Poppy top a must-have addition to your nice tops collection. The flowy sleeves will keep you warm as temperatures drop, while the adjustable tie-waist adds some extra comfort points. Style it with glossy skinnies, black ankle boots and a matching handbag, and take it on your next girls’ night.
The Goes-With-Everything Shirt
That’s right, this is the long-sleeved top that works for anything from brunches to dinner dates and even parties, too. Quickly layer it over a cami top and your fave jeans for a I-just-threw-this-on-but-still-look-incredible kinda vibe, or, if you’re heading somewhere more fancy, glam it up with a leather-look midi skirt, heels and bold jewellery.
Your Sequin Season Bodysuit
Ok – so this is not technically a ‘top’, per se, but I can guarantee that you’ll still want it in your wardrobe. Perfect for Christmas parties and big nights out, the sparkly Eva bodysuit is a genuine scene-stealer with its glitzy embellishments and cleavage-revealing fit. Finish the look with high-waisted shorts or wet-look skinnies, and, accessories-wise, go for a metallic clutch and heels to complement the sequins.
