What To Wear To A Baby Shower

You’ve just RSVP’d to your friend’s baby shower and bought a copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a cute baby-grow to gift her, but you’re stuck for what to wear on the day. Unlike weddings, there isn’t a whole lot of inspiration out there when it comes to baby shower dressing – but don’t worry, because this round-up is here to fill that gap.

For the guests, I’ve picked out versatile jumpsuits, day dresses, and nice tops to pair with your comfiest jeans, giving you options that you can dress down for a casual baby shower at the pub, or style up if your friend is going all out with a balloon arch and a photobooth.

And for the mums-to-be (AKA the stars of the show) there’s a selection of easy-going wrap dresses that can be adjusted to accommodate growing bumps, plus floaty tops for a more relaxed fit. These are pieces that flatter and make you feel your best – and, crucially, the sort of outfits you’d still want to wear if you weren’t pregnant.

For The Guests

Peachiest Jumpsuit

I like a comfy, one-and-done piece that I can chuck on with some trainers or dress up with heels if needed. This peach printed jumpsuit is cut with flowy culotte-style trousers, a wrap-over neckline and frilly sleeves. You’ll definitely feel special in this with very little outfit admin.

Printed Pussybow

I’d file this pussybow blouse under ‘nice tops to pair with jeans’. Lovely with blue denim, this piece buttons right through and the orchid print sparks compliments every time. A great option of you want to go casual on your bottom half with something dressier up top.

Multiprint Maxi

A gorgeous choice for a spring or summer baby shower, this bright multicoloured leopard dress is versatile enough to wear to fancy or casual events. With its cute frill detail and flattering maxi length, it would be ideal for an afternoon garden party. Team with wedges, trainers or whatever you fancy.

Kayla Dress

For that upcoming beer garden baby shower, how about the Kayla dress? This blue maxi has a flowy fit to keep you cool and comfy, and buttons right through so you can adjust the neckline and leg split as you like. Pair with flats or sandals for a relaxed look, or for a dressier vibe, add a pair of wedges.

For The Mums-To-Be

Flowy Blouse

With a floaty, pleated shape, the giraffe blouse has room for a growing bump and comes with a stretch lining for extra comfort and a flattering fit. I love this high frill neck and the long sleeves have elasticated cuffs, so you can easily create a shorter sleeve if you prefer. Team with trousers, jeans or stretchy leggings depending on the setting.

Kimono Dress

The kimono wrap dress is a lovely shape for mums-to-be, with an adjustable tie waist and floaty skirt. It gets bonus points for having an elasticated waist, and I’m obsessed with this floral print and handkerchief-inspired asymmetric hemline.

Floral Wrap Midi

I mean it when I say that the bestselling white floral wrap midi suits everyone. It has the most flattering wrap fit, works with any sort of bra, and is so easy to style up or down for any occasion. This piece is a real favourite with SF customers, including mums-to-be at every stage of their pregnancy.

This is honestly the comfiest occasion dress! Cut from a soft jersey fabric with plenty of stretch and subtle pleats, the Coleen wrap dress has extra room for a bump. Perfect for special events in every season, this head-turning printed style has an elasticated waist for a relaxed fit.
